Scheduled Meetings Update:

Here is the schedule for the next 4 Rochester SharePoint User Group meetings. Each date falls on the third Thursday of the month (with the one exception of May 8th). The meetings will be held from 11:30am – 1:30pm, with the following agenda:

• 11:30 – 12:00:   General Networking
• 12:00 – 1:00:     Presentation Topic
• 1:00 – 1:30:       General Networking

 The meeting dates are:

• June 19^th
• Location: Microsoft Local Office, Corporate Woods 
• July 17^th
• August 21^st

Those dates will get us through the summer, then we can re-visit the day/time based upon actual attendance and suggestions from group members.

Lunch will be provided at each meeting. I will be looking for sponsors (vendors) to cover the costs for lunch. If you know of any, please send them in my direction. I have already had a couple of offers and will pursue them as needed.

Locations are still to be determined. Please let me know if your company has a conference room that can accommodate 20 or so people, and would be willing to let us use it during this timeframe.

Presentation Topics will be chosen for each meeting. These can be informal presentations given by members who would like to share their experiences. I will also pursue presentations from outside sources that have valuable information to share. The specific presentation topic will be posted prior to the actual meeting date.

Information from our last meeting:

Our last meeting was held on May 8th at Sentry Safe. Bob Wickland from Global Crossing presented to the group an overview and a technical discussion on SharePoint as it is implemented at Global Crossing. He covered the basic hierarchy of the sites, and demonstrated pages from some of the functional business areas. He also discussed in detail the approach that was taken to upgrade from 2003 to their current state. All in all a great presentation, with lots of lively discussion.

Thank you to Sentry Safe for their hospitality in accomodating the meeting facility. Thank you to ShareVis for sponsoring a delicious lunch. We also look forward to coordinating a Live Meeting for ShareVis to present the features and benefits of this ShareVis to our members. Look for this event coming up in July.

Information from our March 27th meeting:

Our latest meeting was held on Thursday, March 27th at 5:30pm. A special "Thanks" to the University of Rochester Medical Center for the use of the conference room at Canal Ponds.

The featured speaker at this meeting was Paul Stork, Instructor and Application Development Course Manager at Mindsharp. Paul presented on 2 topics - Business Content Manager and WSS/MOSS Service Pack 1. There was a great deal of useful dialog on these 2 topics, as well as general networking discussions between the attendees. All in all, a very productive and enjoyable meeting.
